Since Friday is Valentine’s Day and everything, I’m continuing to be cliche and giving you another chocolate recipe. But this time, it’s not for your valentine, it’s for you.

Because you deserve to celebrate yourself. You deserve to treat yourself to something special. You deserve to eat chocolate for breakfast. You deserve to love your body. You deserve to never miss breakfast.

Because you are special. Especially to me. And I totally love you.

Which is why I’m encouraging you slurp up a huge glass of this chocolate smoothie this morning.

You might be thinking that a ginormous chocolate smoothie as luscious as this would cost you a full day’s worth of calories or would be incredibly unhealthy, but would I ever do that to you? No way :) I care too much about your healthy eating to do that!

This smoothie is jam packed with superfoods.

We start with coconut water which is full of electrolytes. Then avocado, one of the healthiest fats on earth. A handful of kale, the ultimate super green loaded with vitamins and minerals. Frozen strawberries for sweetness. Unsweetened cocoa powder which has lots of antioxidants. Chia seeds and quinoa for added protein. And a small handful of unsweetened carob chips, just for a little more chocolatey kick without adding sugar.

And it tastes just like a chocolate covered strawberry. I’d say the perfect, guilt-free valentine’s treat.

Total Time: 3 minutes

Yield: 1 large smoothie, 2 small

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender (I'm obsessed with my Blendtec!), and process until smooth.
  2. Top with a few extra carob chips.
  3. Slurp and enjoy!
